Niche Games Enjoyer

Average person in their 20s. View Backloggd for my taste in games. I swear it's really good! And to clear up confusion, when I say "PMD", it always refers to "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon", which is another series I love!

Play Klonoa: Door to Phantomile and Freedom Planet 2! And Solatorobo, and PMD: Gates to Infinity; those games have been shaping my preferences considerably!

SPOILERS FOR GAMES 2+ YEARS OLD!

ZANKI ZERO (Zanki Zero: Last Beginning [2018])

The mix of Piano and futuristic electronic sounds are what makes this track bring out emotion and awe, it’s another track that’s simple upon reflection, but easier to appreciate in the finer details, like that cool Bass, for example! Game itself, uh... feels icky, how about we just focus on the music as usual?

I imagine most people would pick the "singing voice" as their personal highlight, and I have to say, so did I years ago, but as time went on, I concluded that while it's pretty good, it doesn't add quite as much to the track as say, full-fledged vocals, or singing with melodies the existing instruments don't already hold. It's good to see that just about every Spike Chunsoft game I hear the full soundtrack of, offers a good amount of new favorites for me to enjoy!

(Length: Nearly 1.5 minutes)

Ekoroshia (Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair [2012])

This one doesn’t need much of an introduction now, does it? It’s the game’s own Electric Guitar-based remix of the regular investigation theme (Ikoroshia), played during the game’s last remaining chapters.

Its got loads of detail added onto the original, especially noticeable for those with headphones on; even in parts that might sound the same, the Guitar work sneaks its way in to make sure everything is catchier than ever! The samples, cool Bass, and high-impact Drums from the original need mention too, for they’re the track’s much needed variety, like they were back then too. All of what I just said has probably been expressed before by many, but y’know, its deserving of all that fame!

I still remember that time when I played the rest of the game in a single session (The starting point being just a bit of progress into the game’s 2nd half), it’s something others might see as insane, given how much hours that meant, but I was so engaged in what was going on, that I even got emotional near the end despite my emotional capacity taking a backseat with how long the session was! And so, this track holds a special place in my heart as a sort of bookmark to that wonderful experience.

I don’t remember liking this track nearly as much back then, thinking it was trying too hard to surpass its predecessor’s counterpart (Which has a spoilery name, go figure), but I definitely appreciated it more and more as time went on. I’ll be happy to talk about the series with others as usual, as well as recommend it to anyone morbidly curious enough; its got lots of ups n’ downs, but those ups are so great that I remember the package as a whole rather fondly!

A Toccata into Blood Soaked Darkness (Akumajō Dracula: Yami no Juin/Castlevania: Curse of Darkness [2005])

I know I haven’t experienced the whole franchise’s music yet, but so far, this is my favorite Organ-centered track from it, its got such a feeling of desperation and urgency that’s all the more intense when put together with the imposing Bass and Horns! The long Choirs also add to the atmosphere of taking on the evil legend himself!

The track's main "battle" part becomes evident about 67 seconds onward, where the buildup comes to an end with a more involved melody, while keeping the previous section in the background, just with newer action-packed ones taking the spotlight. Castlevania music finds more ways to impress the more you search for them yourself!
